Sympathy Flower Etiquette
Sympathy flowers/plants are traditionally sent to the funeral home, church, or family of the deceased, once the news of the loss has been announced. Most funeral services have what is called a "wake" or "viewing" the night before the funeral, for family and friends to pay their respects. Sympathy flowers are best to send the night before, if you are late sending them to the funeral, sending it to the home of a family member of the deceased, after the funeral service. is appropriate as well. Sending sympathy flowers/plants last minute to the funeral, or to the graveside service is not seen as proper etiquette as this can be disruptive while the service is taking place. Some people prefer to send flowers at a later date, as this shows the family of the deceased that you are still thinking of them.
